The Mercusys MB520-5G is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router that provides internet access by converting a mobile 5G signal into a local Wi-Fi network. It offers wireless speeds of up to 2976 Mbit/s, making it an option for households without fixed-line broadband. If 5G coverage is unavailable, the device switches to a 4G LTE Cat 19 connection to maintain network stability. The hardware is designed to handle bandwidth-intensive tasks such as simultaneous streaming and large file downloads.

The router features two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports for stable wired networking. Internet access is established by inserting a Nano SIM card. Cellular reception relies on two internal antennas, with additional ports provided for attaching external antennas to improve signal strength in challenging environments. Security is managed via WPA3-SAE encryption and an integrated firewall. The unit is powered by an external supply and, to focus on dedicated networking performance, does not include USB ports.
