The LG S40T is a 2.1 channel soundbar system designed to serve as an audio upgrade for televisions. It is comprised of a main soundbar unit and a separate wireless subwoofer, which together produce a total RMS power of 300 watts. The system is engineered to deliver greater audio clarity and low-frequency depth compared to standard integrated TV speakers. It processes Dolby Audio and DTS Digital Surround formats, providing a more defined soundstage for movies and other content.

For connectivity, the system utilizes an HDMI ARC port that enables single-remote operation with compatible televisions via Simplink (CEC). It also includes a digital optical input and a USB port for playback of various audio file formats, including FLAC and WAV. Wireless audio streaming from mobile devices is supported through a Bluetooth 5.3 connection. Sound output can be customized using preset equalizer modes for games and movies, or by manually adjusting bass levels.
