The Soundmaster PL186H is a turntable with an FM stereo radio and built-in speakers, designed as a stand-alone audio unit for vinyl records. It plays at three speeds: 33, 45, and 78 RPM. The 78 RPM setting allows you to play older shellac records that standard dual-speed turntables cannot handle. An internal FM tuner provides access to terrestrial radio broadcasts in stereo, and the built-in speakers allow for immediate playback without needing external audio hardware.

The housing uses a mix of metal, plastic, and wood-effect finishes to provide a stable base for the platter. A transparent lid is included to protect the mechanism and tonearm when the system is not in use. A 45 RPM adapter is provided for compatibility with different record formats, including singles with large centre holes. The unit is intended for tabletop use in a permanent home setup rather than as a portable device.
