The D-Link DWM-550-G 5G M2M router functions as an industrial cellular gateway, converting mobile signals into local network access. It operates on 5G Sub-6 GHz standalone and non-standalone networks to provide primary connectivity for machine-to-machine deployments. In areas without 5G coverage, the gateway falls back to 4G LTE. Local wireless distribution uses the Wi-Fi 6 standard, offering a maximum data transfer rate of 1800 Mbit/s. This throughput supports heavy telemetry, remote monitoring, and multiple concurrent device connections.

Housed in a wall-mountable, zinc-plated steel case, the router is designed for industrial environments. Four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports support 10/100/1000 Mbit/s data rates. Signal reception is provided by six external antennas with standard SMA connectors. The device accepts a 12V to 36V DC power input, making it compatible with typical factory electrical systems. It features dual Nano-SIM (4FF) slots to provide carrier redundancy and ensure network uptime. Traffic is managed via a built-in firewall and SNMP protocols, and administrators can deploy secure data tunnels using integrated VPN capabilities.
