The D-Link F518 5G NR AX1800 is a portable hotspot that creates a local wireless network from a mobile data signal. It connects to 5G NR networks to provide internet access where fixed broadband is unavailable. If 5G coverage is weak, the device switches to 4G LTE. It uses dual-band Wi-Fi 6, operating simultaneously on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies to deliver speeds up to 1800 Mbit/s. This allows the hotspot to provide a stable connection for remote work, travel, and temporary network setups.

The device uses a Nano SIM to establish an internet connection. It is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, charged via a USB-C port, allowing it to operate without a permanent mains connection. Four LED indicators on the casing show battery levels, network status, signal strength, and WLAN activity. For network security, the device includes an integrated firewall. It is designed for plug-and-play use, with a simple physical power switch for quick operation.
