The Makita DHP490Z 18V LXT Brushless Cordless Impact Drill (Body Only) is a bare unit intended for drilling, hammer drilling, and screwdriving. It requires a Makita 18V LXT battery system to operate, as no battery or charger is included. A brushless motor drives the internal mechanisms, with adjustable speed controlled by the trigger. The tool has a two-speed gearbox so that rotational speed can be matched to the material being worked. In first gear, the drill runs at up to 500 rpm for controlled, high-torque work. Switching to second gear raises the top speed to 1,900 rpm for faster hole drilling.
The standard pistol-grip configuration includes a reverse switch for backing out screws or freeing jammed bits. In poorly lit areas, a built-in LED lights up the immediate work zone. Users can select from 20 torque settings to regulate rotational force when fastening. An included metal belt hook lets the tool hang securely from workwear between jobs. For woodworking, the unit is rated to drill holes up to 38 mm in diameter. Masonry and metalwork are also covered, with maximum drilling capacities of 13 mm in both concrete and steel.
Key Features:- Delivers 50 N·m of torque for hard applications and 27 N·m for soft materials, adapting to different screw sizes.
- Generates between 7,500 and 28,500 blows per minute for breaking through masonry during hammer drilling.
- 1/2" keyless chuck accepts bit shanks from 1.5 mm to 13 mm in diameter without the need for external tools.
- Operates with a sound pressure level of 88 dB and a maximum sound power level of 96 dB.
- Registers 8.1 m/s² of vibration during concrete drilling and 2.5 m/s² when drilling metal.
- Weighs 1,700 g without a battery attached, giving the base weight for overhead or extended use.
