DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Sensing Module

The DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Sensing Module is an add-on component compatible with the DJI Matrice 4, Matrice 4T, Matrice 4D and Matrice 4TD drones. It supports obstacle detection, collision avoidance and aircraft positioning in complex surroundings. At 235 g, the module adds a defined payload that operators can account for when configuring the aircraft. Its sensing capability is intended to improve manoeuvrability where structures or limited visibility complicate navigation. The unit is designed specifically as a component for the Matrice 4 Series.

Sensing hardware combines a rotating LiDAR sensor with five-directional millimetre-wave radar. Radar coverage extends around and above the aircraft, including areas containing difficult-to-see hazards. When paired with the drone's built-in downward-facing millimetre-wave radar, the system helps provide near-360-degree obstacle awareness. This arrangement supports navigation in low-light conditions and around cluttered industrial structures. Relevant operating locations include power distribution networks and electrical substations, where accurate positioning around equipment is important.
