The Ubiquiti UniFi 5G Max is an external cellular modem designed to provide internet connectivity via mobile networks. Used primarily as a WAN uplink or failover solution, it supports 5G NR networks with fallback to 4G LTE and 3G UMTS. The modem connects to local networks via a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port and supports mobile data transfer rates up to 3400 Mbit/s. It is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need for a separate DC adapter. To route traffic, the hardware requires integration with an existing UniFi networking environment.

The gateway features an aluminium and polycarbonate enclosure with an IK04 impact protection rating. Designed for indoor use, the included mounting kit allows for installation on a desktop, wall, or window. The device is managed centrally through the UniFi web interface or cloud platform, allowing for remote network configuration. A 1.3-inch touchscreen provides local status updates and assists with initial setup. An integrated firewall provides basic security for the cellular connection. Four internal antennas handle mobile signals, maintaining a compact design without external protrusions.
