The Garmin Forerunner 70 is an entry-level GPS smartwatch for tracking basic fitness data. It uses multi-GNSS support—including GLONASS and Galileo—to record pace, distance, and routes independently of a smartphone. Wrist-based sensors track heart rate and blood oxygen levels, providing data for over 80 built-in sports profiles, such as cycling and HIIT. The watch also displays metrics like VO2 max, training load, and recovery time. Activity tracking runs in the background, logging daily steps alongside specific workouts. The battery lasts up to 13 days in smartwatch mode, or 23 hours with GPS tracking active.

The 42.6 mm Whitestone fiber-reinforced polymer case weighs 40 grams. The 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display has a 390 x 390-pixel resolution, touchscreen controls, and an ambient light sensor. It uses chemically strengthened glass and has a 5 ATM water resistance rating, suitable for swimming up to 50 metres. Included bands fit wrists from 126 to 203 millimetres. Navigation is handled by an electronic compass and standard altimeter; the device does not have a barometric sensor. It is compatible with iOS and Android for smart notifications and media control, though it lacks internal music storage. The Garmin Connect app allows for detailed reviews of sleep, daily stress, and HRV status.
