The MicroConnect Thunderbolt 5 cable provides bidirectional data transfer and video output. It supports data rates of 80 Gbit/s for consistent throughput during large file transfers. The cable supports high-resolution output for a single monitor at a 60 Hz refresh rate. Depending on system capabilities, it can also drive dual 8K displays at higher refresh rates. This 0.5 m cable is designed for docking stations, external storage arrays, and workstation peripherals.

The cable features aluminum shells on the USB-C connectors to improve heat dissipation and durability. A halogen-free thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) jacket protects the internal copper wiring, providing flexibility while meeting environmental safety standards. It is fully backward compatible with earlier Thunderbolt 3 and 4 generations. Both connectors are reversible, ensuring a stable connection in standard ports without requiring a specific orientation. This allows for bus power and data transfer across a wide range of host and accessory hardware.
