The Synology DX525 is a 5-bay desktop expansion unit for the 25-series DiskStation. It adds five drive bays to a compatible host NAS. You can use 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA hard drives or SSDs. DiskStation Manager (DSM) integrates these bays into your existing storage, allowing you to create new volumes or expand existing RAID arrays to accommodate more data. It is a practical solution for scaling storage in professional network environments.

The chassis has a black finish and weighs 2460 g when empty. Two 92 mm fans provide active cooling for continuous operation. Operating at 20.4 dB, the unit is quiet enough for use on office desks. Front-panel LEDs indicate the status of the unit and individual drive bays. The unit is powered by a 90 W internal power supply, with a typical power consumption of 35.37 W. A Kensington security slot is integrated into the frame. The hot-swappable bays allow you to replace or install drives while the system is running.
