The Synology DiskStation DS1525+ is a 5-bay desktop storage server designed for centralising data in home or small office environments. The AMD Ryzen Embedded V1500B quad-core processor (2.2 GHz) handles simultaneous network requests, while 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory ensures system stability by identifying and correcting data errors. The system comes with 80 TB of pre-installed storage across five internal drive bays. Connectivity is provided by dual 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports, supporting transfer rates of up to 2,500 Mbit/s. The internal SATA interfaces accommodate 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drives, complemented by two M.2 NVMe slots for cache acceleration.

The chassis features hot-swappable drive bays, allowing disks to be replaced without stopping system operations. Two 92 mm fans handle cooling, maintaining a noise level of 22.6 dB during standard operation. The system supports various RAID configurations for data redundancy, including RAID 5, 6, 10, and Synology Hybrid RAID. Storage capacity can be expanded or migrated online via the DiskStation Manager operating system. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports allow for the connection of external drives or peripherals. Management features include BTRFS file system support, snapshots for data recovery, and access control lists for user permissions. The internal memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using the two available SO-DIMM slots.
