The Synology DiskStation DS1823xs+ is an eight-bay network-attached storage (NAS) system designed for small and medium-sized businesses. It comes with 32 TB of pre-installed capacity across eight hard drives. The unit is powered by an AMD Ryzen Embedded V1780B quad-core processor with a base frequency of 3.35 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. Users manage the hardware via the DiskStation Manager operating system to facilitate file sharing and virtualization. RAID support includes levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and RAID F1. The system architecture supports up to 16,000 users and 2,000 concurrent connections.

For network connectivity, the hardware features four RJ-45 ports with data rates reaching 10 Gbps. Internal expansion is possible through two M.2 slots and a single PCIe Gen 3 x8 slot for supplementary interface cards. The storage chassis incorporates hot-swappable drive bays with physical locking mechanisms. Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and two eSATA ports allow for the connection of external peripherals or expansion units. Cooling is provided by two 120 mm active fans, which operate at a noise level of 23.6 dB. A 250 W power supply is integrated into the chassis, sufficient to support the full drive complement. Data integrity is managed through hardware-based snapshots and support for iSCSI and Fibre Channel protocols.
