Synology RS1226+ RackStation - Network-attached storage

The Synology RS1226+ RackStation is an 8-bay 2U rackmount NAS for centralised data management and backup in business environments. It runs on an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core processor at 2.2 GHz with eight threads and includes 4 GB of ECC DDR4 memory, which detects and corrects common bit errors. The unit has eight hot-swappable drive bays that accept 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives. Networking is provided by two 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports with throughput of up to 2,500 Mbit/s. It supports multi-user file sharing, iSCSI block storage, and automated backup tasks.

Connected to an RX426 expansion unit, the system scales to 12 drive bays. Two M.2 2280 NVMe slots accept SSD cache drives, improving response times for frequently accessed data without using the primary bays. Cooling is handled by two 80 mm fans, with noise levels of around 23.3 dB. The unit uses a 250 W internal power supply and draws roughly 72.33 W under typical load. Management runs through Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM), a web-based interface for configuring RAID levels, file protocols, and other settings. Supported file systems include Btrfs, ext4, and NTFS. The hardware also supports Wake-on-LAN and provides two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for external connectivity.
