The SONOS Play Portable Stereo Speaker, White is a 2.0-channel speaker for general home, travel, and outdoor listening. Its built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 24 hours of playback. A two-way active design uses three internal drivers to reproduce high and low frequencies separately. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide wireless playback from compatible mobile devices, home networks, and streaming services. AirPlay support adds another option for sending audio from compatible devices.

An IP67 rating provides protection against dust and temporary immersion in water. The enclosure is also specified as drop-resistant, which is relevant when carrying the speaker between locations. A built-in microphone supports calls and voice control. The integrated equaliser allows the sound balance to be adjusted for different content or surroundings. Physical connectivity includes an auxiliary input and a USB Type-C connection, with USB charging also supported.
