The TERRAMASTER D5 Hybrid 5-Bay Hybrid DAS Enclosure provides direct-attached local storage expansion for a single computer. It accommodates five drives in a hybrid layout, pairing two bays for 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives with three dedicated M.2 2280 NVMe slots. This configuration allows users to combine high-capacity hard drives with faster solid-state storage for video editing and large backups. Data transfer occurs through a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface at rates up to 10 Gbit/s. The system supports RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and single-disk configurations, and it can rebuild an array after a drive replacement.

A tool-free design simplifies the process of installing and swapping drives. Thermal management relies on an 80 mm intelligent fan that adjusts its speed according to internal temperatures. The enclosure supports NTFS, exFAT, APFS, and EXT4 file systems, ensuring compatibility across Windows and macOS environments. Operating as a strictly local device, it lacks Ethernet ports and does not offer web-based management. An external power supply handles electrical delivery, while a physical on/off switch allows for power isolation.
