The TERRAMASTER U8-500 Plus is an 8-bay 2U rackmount NAS designed for large enterprise environments that require centralised storage. It ships without drives, allowing IT administrators to fit eight 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDDs or SSDs. Processing is handled by an Intel Core i7-1255U CPU with 10 cores and 12 threads. The system comes with 16 GB of DDR5 memory. Storage management supports RAID levels 0, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD, along with hot-swapping and online RAID migration. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports provide network connectivity for file-sharing and backup workloads.

TerraMaster TOS 5.1 runs the system, offering web-based administration that supports up to 2,048 user accounts and 512 shared folders. The software suite includes snapshot capabilities, cloud backup options, and AES encryption. Active cooling uses three 80 mm fans, keeping noise output to 38 dB while drawing a typical 90 W from the internal 250 W power supply. The NAS integrates into mixed environments through compatibility with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Windows Server operating systems. Supported network protocols include CIFS/SMB, NFS, FTP, HTTPS, SSH, and iSCSI. Peripheral connectivity includes four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and an HDMI output.
