The MSI PRO B550-S WIFI6E ATX motherboard uses the AMD B550 chipset and AM4 socket for desktop PC builds. Supported processors include AMD Ryzen 5000 and 3000 series, plus Ryzen 5000 G-series and 4000 G-series. Four DDR4 DIMM slots accommodate up to 128 GB of memory, giving scope for larger configurations. Dual-channel operation is supported, with a maximum listed memory speed of 4866 MHz. Memory compatibility is limited to unbuffered, non-ECC modules; ECC memory is not supported.

Two M.2 slots support drive formats of 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110. Four SATA 6 Gb/s ports provide connections for additional SATA drives. Expansion consists of two physical PCIe x16 slots—one PCIe 4.0 and one PCIe 3.0—alongside a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot for an additional card. A CPU fan connector and five chassis fan connectors accommodate processor and case cooling. Power connections include a 24-pin ATX connector and an 8-pin EPS connector.
