The MicroConnect MC-DR8169 is a Gigabit PCI Express Ethernet card designed to add a dedicated wired connection to desktop computers. It installs into a standard PCI Express slot to provide direct local area network access via copper cabling, supporting data transfer rates of up to 1000 Mbit/s. This card does not feature Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity. It is intended for upgrading a desktop's existing wired network capacity or bypassing faulty onboard Ethernet hardware.
The card uses a Realtek 8169 chipset and features a single RJ45 port for standard network cables. It supports 10, 100, and 1000 Mbit/s connections, automatically negotiating speeds with the connected router or switch. It is compatible with Windows versions from Windows 98 SE through Windows 8, as well as Windows Server 2003 and 2008. The circuit board measures 118 mm by 51 mm, ensuring it occupies minimal space within the chassis.
