The Cisco Catalyst 9117AXI-E is a Layer 2 wireless access point designed for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) connectivity in high-density enterprise environments. This model features a single RJ-45 Ethernet port that supports multi-gigabit LAN data rates of 100, 1000, 2500, and 5000 Mbit/s. With a total switching capacity of 5.38 Gbit/s and a forwarding rate of 5.38 Mpps, the dual-radio hardware manages concurrent client connections to reduce network contention. Integrated Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 functionality allows the unit to interface with location-based tracking applications.

The wall-mountable white chassis draws power directly through the network via PoE (802.3at or 802.3bt standards). Its peak power consumption is 28.9 W, which allows for installation in areas where local electrical outlets are unavailable. Administrators can configure the unit using web-based management tools or the dedicated RJ-45 console port. Security is managed through AES encryption, WPA and WPA2 protocols, and EAP-TLS and EAP-PEAP authentication.
