The Cisco Meraki MS125-48-HW is a 1U, rack-mountable, Layer 2 cloud-managed switch with 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports, designed for campus and branch office edge connectivity. This non-PoE model features 48 RJ-45 ports for copper connections and four 10G SFP+ slots for high-speed fiber uplinks to core infrastructure. With a total switching capacity of 176 Gbit/s, the hardware processes high volumes of local area network traffic.
The 1U chassis fits into standard network cabinets. Administrators manage the switch via the Meraki cloud-based web interface, which centralises multi-site configuration and monitoring. The system supports standard traffic management protocols, including Quality of Service (QoS), link aggregation, and IGMP snooping for multicast traffic. Security features include IEEE 802.1X RADIUS authentication and DHCP snooping to prevent unauthorised access. With a typical power consumption of 22 W, the stackable unit is designed for continuous operation.
Key Features:- Forwarding performance of 130.95 Mpps.
- 32,000-entry MAC address table, suitable for large-scale client environments.
- Built-in loop protection via Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and broadcast storm control.
- Supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN configuration and Access Control Lists (ACL) for traffic isolation and security.
- Mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1,628,120 hours.
