The Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series C9500-40X-E Managed 10G SFP+ switch (Network Essentials) is a Layer 2 and Layer 3 fixed-core platform designed for high-capacity network aggregation. This non-PoE model features 40 SFP+ module slots for 10-Gigabit connectivity, providing high-density uplink capabilities without RJ-45 ports. The switch offers a total switching capacity of 960 Gbit/s and a forwarding performance of 720 Mpps to maintain throughput under high loads. It is intended for use as a central aggregation point to reduce bottlenecks in data centre backbones.

The 1U chassis is designed for standard rack mounting. Internally, the unit uses a 2400 MHz processor and 16 GB of DRAM to manage routing tables and network policies.
