The Cisco Catalyst 9120AXE Embedded Wireless Controller Access Point (C9120AXE-EWC-E) combines a Wi-Fi 6 radio with built-in controller functions. This removes the need for a separate physical controller appliance in small-to-medium deployments. The Layer 2 access point provides centralized management for WLAN configurations, client provisioning, and wireless monitoring. It handles high client density using OFDMA and MU-MIMO technologies to increase network throughput. A single RJ-45 Ethernet port connects the unit to the wired network.

Configuration and monitoring are handled through a web-based management interface. The system secures traffic using WPA3 encryption and supports multiple EAP authentication methods. The unit can be powered via 802.3at PoE+ or Cisco UPOE, drawing a maximum of 25.5 W. VLAN support allows network teams to segregate traffic. Local diagnostics and configuration are available via a dedicated RJ-45 console port and a USB 2.0 interface.
