The usual way to connect the cable
To make a network cable that goes from a computer to a hub or switch, you use a straight TP cable. By straight TP cable is meant that the same cord set is found in both cables of the cable, TIA568A to TIA568A or TIA568B to TIA568B.

Not usual!
For the connection between two computers, between two switches, routers or hubs or between a computer and a router, you use a crossed TP cable. By this is meant to cross-connect the transmitter pair and receiver pair in the cable. In other words, TIA568A to TIA568B or TIA568B to TIA568A.

Very unusual!
To connect a network cable from a computer to the configuration port of, for example, a router, a rollover cable is used. In such a case, one contact is mirrored compared to the other.

Control:
You can see if a network cable is straight or crossed by holding the two contacts next to each other and reviewing the conductor colors. If the colors are placed in the same way, the cable is straight. Otherwise, it is probably crossed. For example, we can see that the cord in the picture is probably crossed because the wires are not in the same places.
