The Aruba Instant On 1830 48G 4SFP is a Layer 2 managed switch for medium to large office networks. It features 48 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports for wired connectivity. With a switching capacity of 104 Gbit/s and a forwarding rate of 77.37 Mpps, it handles concurrent data traffic without performance bottlenecks. Four dedicated SFP slots are provided for fiber uplinks to core infrastructure.
This non-PoE model consumes 40.2 W, intended for environments where connected devices are powered independently. Its 1U form factor fits standard equipment racks. Administrators can configure the switch using a local web interface or a cloud management platform. Traffic prioritization and network segmentation are supported through Quality of Service (QoS) controls and IEEE 802.1Q VLANs. For media distribution, IGMP snooping limits multicast traffic to active listeners to save bandwidth.
Key Features:- MAC address table capacity of 16,000 entries for forwarding efficiency on local networks.
- System latency of 2.8 µs at 1 Gbps for time-sensitive applications.
- 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 512 MB of SDRAM and a 1.5 MB packet buffer.
- Support for jumbo frames up to 9,216 bytes to reduce protocol overhead during large data transfers.
- Loop protection via Spanning Tree Protocols (IEEE 802.1D/w) and link aggregation via LACP (IEEE 802.3ad).
