The Aruba Instant On 1830 8G Switch is a Layer 2 managed switch for building wired networks in business environments. It features eight Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet ports to connect hardware such as computers, IP cameras, and wireless access points. The unit has a 16 Gbit/s switching capacity, which allows for full-speed data transfer across all ports simultaneously. For setups requiring remote power, the switch includes integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) to supply electricity to compatible devices via standard data cables.
Administrators can configure and monitor the switch through a web-based interface or the cloud-managed platform. Traffic segmentation and bandwidth prioritisation are handled by built-in VLAN support and Quality of Service (QoS) protocols. To maintain network stability, the system includes loop protection via the spanning tree protocol, alongside link aggregation for combining multiple connections. Although compact, the chassis supports standard rack mounting for integration into server equipment. Secure management access is enforced using SSH/SSL encryption and password-protected authentication to prevent unauthorised configuration changes.
Key Features:- Forwarding performance of 11.9 Mpps for packet handling under heavy network loads.
- Powered by an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 512 MB of SDRAM and a 1.5 MB packet buffer.
- Low-latency operation: 2.8 µs at 1 Gbps and 5.2 µs at 10/100 Mbps data rates.
- Maintains an 8000-entry MAC address table and supports 9216-byte jumbo frames for large file transfers.
- Maximum power consumption of 5.9 W.
- Includes IGMP snooping to route multicast traffic to requesting client devices.
