The Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Interface Module (WS-X6148E-GE-45AT=) is a Layer 2/3 managed switch module for chassis-based enterprise networks. It provides 48 RJ-45 Gigabit ports for high-density wired connectivity. With a switching capacity of 32 Gbit/s and a forwarding rate of 15 Mpps, it supports data center distribution and corporate LAN environments.

The module installs directly into existing rack-mounted Catalyst 6500 chassis. It supports the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) standard, allowing it to power devices such as IP cameras or access points over Category 5 UTP cabling. Administrators manage the module via the command-line interface, using VLAN routing and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to configure network topologies. Quality of Service (QoS) rules prioritize latency-sensitive traffic, and link aggregation allows multiple physical ports to be combined into higher-capacity logical links.
