The Optoma ZH450 is a standard throw projector that utilizes DLP projection technology to produce a native Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is equipped with a DuraCore laser light source that provides 4500 ANSI lumens of brightness and is rated for up to 30,000 hours of operation, reducing maintenance requirements. The projector has a native aspect ratio of 16:9 but also supports 4:3 and 16:10 formats to accommodate various source materials. A typical contrast ratio of 300,000:1 contributes to the definition between light and dark areas of the image.

For connectivity, the unit includes two HDMI 2.0 ports, a powered USB-A port, and an Ethernet LAN port for network control.
