The Fractal Design Era 2 is a small form factor case designed for ITX motherboards. Its construction consists of an aluminum exterior paired with a top panel made from FSC-certified wood. The chassis measures 165 x 314 x 366 mm, making it suitable for compact system builds where desk space is a consideration. It features a front I/O panel that includes USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports alongside a combination audio jack for streamlined connectivity.

The internal layout supports a three-slot graphics card, which is mounted vertically using the included PCIe 4.0 riser cable. For cooling, the case utilizes a bottom-to-top airflow path, supported by two pre-installed 120 mm fans at the base. It accommodates a top-mounted radiator up to 280 mm for liquid cooling solutions or additional 120/140 mm fans. Component clearance allows for a CPU cooler height of up to 70 mm and an SFX or SFX-L power supply with a maximum length of 200 mm. Storage is handled by four dedicated 2.5-inch drive mounts.
