The Keychron K17 Max provides tri-mode connectivity, allowing users to connect via a low-latency 2.4 GHz receiver, Bluetooth 5.1, or a wired USB-C interface. It operates with a 1000 Hz polling rate in both 2.4 GHz and wired modes, which facilitates responsive input for gaming. The keyboard features a 96% layout, incorporating a numeric keypad into a more compact footprint than a full-size board. It is fitted with Gateron Low-Profile Brown mechanical switches, which provide tactile feedback upon actuation.

Constructed with an aluminum frame, the keyboard is designed for stability. It includes LSA-profile PBT keycaps, which are resistant to wear and surface shine. To moderate typing acoustics, the chassis contains an IXPE sound-dampening foam layer. The keyboard supports full key programmability and macro creation through the Keychron Launcher software. It is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux, and a physical switch allows for quick toggling between operating system layouts.
