The Keychron Q5 Max is a 96% layout mechanical keyboard constructed with a full CNC machined aluminum body, providing substantial weight and structural rigidity. It features a triple-mode connection system, offering a low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless option with a 1000 Hz polling rate, Bluetooth 5.1 for pairing with multiple devices, and a detachable USB-C cable for wired operation and charging. The board is equipped with Gateron Jupiter mechanical switches and utilizes a hot-swappable PCB, which allows users to install or change switches without soldering. Multiple layers of internal acoustic foam are integrated to dampen sound and refine the typing acoustics.

This keyboard supports full customization via QMK and VIA open-source firmware, enabling comprehensive key remapping, macro programming, and layer configuration that can be saved to its onboard memory. The keycaps are made from durable double-shot PBT plastic, which is resistant to wear and surface shine. It includes south-facing RGB LEDs that provide per-key, individually addressable backlighting.
