The BenQ W5850 is a home cinema projector that utilizes DLP technology and a laser light source to deliver a native 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution. It produces a brightness of 2600 ANSI lumens with a dynamic contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1, suitable for dedicated viewing environments with controlled lighting. The laser light source is rated for a service life of up to 20,000 hours in standard operating mode. This model does not include built-in speakers, requiring connection to an external audio system for sound.

Image reproduction is supported by coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and compatibility with multiple high dynamic range formats, including HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. The projector includes several preset modes, such as Filmmaker Mode, to align the image with the content creator's intent. It is also capable of displaying 3D content. The unit operates at a noise level of 30 dB, which is reduced to 27 dB when switched to its economic mode.
