The Bose Smart Soundbar is designed to deliver spatial audio from a single enclosure. It natively decodes Dolby Atmos content using its five internal drivers to produce a multidimensional sound field. For audio sources that are not Atmos-encoded, the soundbar utilizes Bose TrueSpace technology, which analyzes and upmixes stereo or surround signals. This processing aims to create a wider and more vertical soundstage by virtually separating and placing dialogue, instruments, and effects in different parts of the room.

The unit provides a range of wired and wireless connectivity options. A single HDMI eARC port facilitates connection to a television for high-quality audio transmission, and an optical input is also available. For music and media streaming, the soundbar is equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Chromecast built-in. It can be controlled with the included remote, a smartphone application, or integrated voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The system is also expandable with optional wireless bass modules and surround speakers.
