The Elgato Game Capture 4K X is an external HDMI capture card for recording and streaming unencrypted video. It captures 3840 x 2160 resolution at 60 fps. Users connect gaming consoles to the device, which transmits the video signal to a computer via USB-C. Passive HDMI passthrough sends the gameplay signal to a monitor without latency, while the capture signal is sent to the PC. The device supports HDR10 for accurate colour reproduction and records from any compatible HDMI output.

The card is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 13 or later. It also supports recording on iPadOS.
