The HPE Networking Instant On 1840 24-Port Gigabit Switch is a smart-managed Layer 2 switch designed for network expansion. It provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports to connect servers and workstations. Each port supports a 1 Gbit/s data transfer rate to manage local traffic. Sixteen of these ports support Power over Ethernet (PoE), providing a total power budget of 195 W to run devices like IP cameras without separate adapters. Unlike basic plug-and-play models, this unit supports active management, allowing administrators to control core switching protocols and optimise performance.

The switch features four combo SFP slots for fiber uplinks, enabling long-distance network connections. It is suitable for rack or wall mounting. The unit measures 567.9 x 444 x 129.8 mm. Its 5.87 kg chassis protects the internal hardware during continuous operation. A 1200 MHz processor manages data processing, paired with 1024 MB of memory to maintain stability under high traffic loads. An additional 256 MB of flash memory stores firmware and configuration files.
