The Cisco SG500-28MPP-K9-G5 500 Series Managed PoE+ Switch is a Layer 2 network switch designed to segment traffic and power edge devices. It features 24 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports and four SFP slots for fiber uplinks. The unit has a 72 Gbit/s switching capacity and a forwarding rate of 41.67 Mpps to manage data transfer. It supports 10G backbone integration with core network infrastructure.

The 1U rack-mountable chassis fits standard 19-inch equipment racks. It provides a 740 W total Power over Ethernet (PoE+) budget across all 24 ports, supplying sufficient power for endpoints such as PTZ cameras and wireless access points. Device management is handled through a web-based graphical interface, secured by SSH and SSL/TLS encryption. Network traffic is managed using Quality of Service (QoS) controls and Access Control Lists (ACLs). Under typical operating conditions, the system consumes 40.38 W and produces a 41.2 dB noise level.
