The Smart Connector transfers both data and power between iPad Pro and the Smart Keyboard — no batteries or charging required. Just attach the Smart Keyboard, then start typing. And when you disconnect, an onscreen keyboard automatically reappears.

To take full advantage of the Smart Connector, we created a unique conductive fabric that allows the two-way flow of power and data. Placed between a protective polyurethane outer layer and a soft microfiber inner lining, it helps make the Smart Keyboard anything but conventional.

Innovation across the board.

Unlike traditional keyboards, there are no gaps between keys to trap crumbs or coffee. Instead, the keys have been laser ablated into a single sheet of durable custom-woven fabric. It provides the spring-like tension for each key, eliminating the need for bulky conventional mechanisms. The fabric is also coated in a water- and stain-resistant finish.
