The STARTECH Unmanaged Gigabit Fiber Media Converter connects standard copper networks to fiber optic infrastructure. It links a standard RJ-45 Ethernet port to a single LC fiber optic port. Designed to extend network range, the converter supports distances up to 550 m. The link maintains Gigabit Ethernet speeds, with data transfer rates of 1000 Mbit/s. It uses multimode fiber to span distances that exceed the physical limits of copper cabling.

The media converter is plug-and-play and requires no software configuration. The compact enclosure measures 94 × 70 × 26 mm. Weighing 201 g, the adapter fits easily alongside routers or network switches. It is powered via a 5 V DC jack. Autonegotiation and full-duplex support maintain connection stability across the extended network.
