The TP-Link Deco M4 is a mesh system consisting of three units designed to deliver a unified Wi-Fi network across large residential spaces, providing coverage for areas up to 420 m². Utilizing dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) technology, the system achieves a maximum theoretical combined wireless transfer rate of 1167 Mbit/s. This speed is distributed across the 2.4 GHz band (up to 300 Mbit/s) and the 5 GHz band (up to 867 Mbit/s), ensuring consistent connectivity for streaming and general use devices.

Each individual unit handles wired connections via two auto-sensing Gigabit Ethernet ports, which function interchangeably as WAN or LAN access points. The internal hardware includes a 716 MHz single-core processor supported by 128 MB of RAM, allowing the system to maintain stable connections for up to 100 devices. Further enhancing performance and stability are built-in technologies like MU-MIMO and Beamforming, designed to focus signal strength and handle concurrent data streams efficiently. The system provides network security through a SPI Firewall, along with functional parental controls and Quality of Service (QoS) support.
