The AmpliFi Alien Router operates using Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology across dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. The system provides an aggregate wireless throughput of up to 6550 Mbit/s for demanding home and small office networks. The high-performance 5 GHz band is rated for data transfer rates up to 4800 Mbit/s, while the 2.4 GHz band maintains stability with speeds up to 1150 Mbit/s. Intelligent Mesh Technology allows the unit to integrate with other compatible units for scalable network coverage expansion.

Internal routing is managed by a quad-core 2200 MHz processor, supported by 1024 MB of internal memory, facilitating high-capacity traffic management. The router incorporates 12 internal antennas supporting MU-MIMO and Beamforming capabilities to optimize signal direction and distribution to connected devices. Wired connectivity is provided by four Gigabit Ethernet ports, suitable for both WAN and LAN connections. Security functionality includes WPA2 encryption, an integrated firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), and support for Quality of Service (QoS).
