The NETGEAR Orbi 870 Series RBE870B is an add-on satellite unit designed to expand the coverage area of an existing Orbi Wi-Fi 7 mesh installation. This tri-band unit uses the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands to establish robust wireless links throughout a dwelling. Utilizing the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard, the satellite achieves combined wireless data transfer rates up to 21000 Mbit/s (BE21000) for high-bandwidth applications.

The satellite incorporates intelligent mesh technology and includes eight internal antennas to manage network traffic efficiently. This unit is rated to extend coverage by up to 232 square meters (approximately 2,500 sq. ft) and supports connectivity for up to 150 simultaneous devices. For wired client connections, the unit provides four Ethernet LAN ports, each capable of handling data rates up to 2.5 Gigabit (2500 Mbit/s). It employs Beamforming capabilities to direct signals toward connected devices and utilizes WPA3 for network encryption.
